On the reports logged at this town, yes. Four of the five NOAA reports carrying the Grapevine name since 2023 are wind, in the high sixties and the seventies, and the fifth is a single hail report of an inch across. Tarrant County as a whole is hail country and has far bigger numbers to show for it, but those came down elsewhere in the county. It matters because a roofer looks for different things depending on which one came through.
Lower than the number printed on the shingle wrapper. Sealant strips begin releasing around the mid forties, tabs lift and flap through the fifties, and creasing and lost tabs start showing up above about 58 mph even on a sound roof. That printed rating was earned in a laboratory on a roof nailed exactly to spec and fully sealed in warm weather, so a roof that was hand-nailed, or laid on a cold day and never sealed properly, gives way well under it. A gust in the sixties is worth a look even when the yard is clean.
Usually, because the wind signs are the ones that hide. A creased shingle folds back down and looks ordinary from the driveway, and it will never seal itself again.
